Profile

The main research areas of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering are issues related to designing , construction and testing of mobile robots that perform tasks in hazardous areas, with particular emphasis on robots weighing from 100 kg to 5000 kg. We are working on the creation of completely new UGV structures and their control stations. The research is being carried out to improve the control process by optimizing the video systems used and integrating data from a wide range of sensors, such as GPS, vision, laser scanners, inertia or radar sensors. In the area of research on teleoperation and visualization of robot workspace, we are working on remote control systems and visualization/recognition the terrain before the robot moving as well as the field of work to the full extent. In addition, we devote a lot of effort to the problems of hydrostatic drive systems operating in the LS configuration and CAN bus control. Our solutions are applicable in the design of hydraulic manipulators. We have extensive experience in testing robots. For this purpose, an unique research track was designed and built to study the ability to overcome terrain and test robots both in the aspect of carrying out rescue operations and performing military missions.
