During the European Robotics Week 2017 (#ERW2017) Lykavittos Primary School (K.A’) and its STEM team took the initiative for organizing different workshops exemplifying the use and the role of robotics in modern society. Due to the fact that our school does not have any relevant equipment, we collaborated with ERSO Cyprus (Educational, Robotics and Science Center, www.ersocyprus.org) and offered to students the opportunity to be involved in programming ready-made robots (bee-bot / blue-bot, ozobot) and/or constructing their own simplified robots using Lego We Do or Lego Mindstorms EV3 depending on their age and experience. Teachers and parents were also invited in order to make them aware of the potential of robots for educational activities and as a tool of thinking and learning. The event was really successful and students were really enthusiastic to continuously be involved in similar future activities. In reality the event indicated that integrating robots in the learning environment will be extremely beneficial for both teachers and students and will facilitate the process of the digital transformation of our society.
