Celebration of educational robotics program expansion
Show details
USAID and Government of Sweden are supporting a new wave of educational robotics program expansion in Moldova. Thus, 37 new educational institutions are being added to the network and are receiving LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robot kits, and 40 institutions from the existing network, of 76 schools and 13 public libraries, receive additional equipment (LEGO WeDo robotics sets for primary school, Arduino based Makeblock robotics sets and 3D printers).
The educational robotics program in Moldova was started in 2014 with the support from international donors and under the patronage of the Ministry of Education. Until now the program reached 5000 direct beneficiaries – children and adolescents taking regular robotics classes in schools or extra-curricular centers. Robotics is an optional course taught in 70+ Moldovan schools by 100 active teachers. The expansion of the program will allow the impact to be amplified, including a broader range of age groups in the hands-on activities, as well as implement more innovative STEM learning scenarios, developing important 21 century skills for Moldovan Youth.
