ERL Service Local Tournament - Peccioli RIF, Italy

From the 30th january to the 3rd of february the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna (Pisa, Italy) in its laboratories of the Peccioli RIF (Robotics Innovation Facility), an instrument funded by ECHORD++ (www.echord.eu), hosted the ERL Service Local Tournament. The RIF is a series of infrastructures in which any user can develop/test/validate robotic solutions in real/realistic environments with proper support competences and hight etc equipment.

ERL is composed of multiple Local Tournaments, held in different research labs across Europe, with certified test beds, and a few competitions as part of Major Tournaments, similar to RoboCup.
The ERL Service Robots tournament stems from its predecessor, the RoCKIn@Home competition, and focuses on the domain of service robotics for home application.

In March 2015, the Peccioli RIF (www.pecciolirif.com), which is close to Pisa, Italy, hosted the RoCKInCamp 2015 and in 2016 the Peccioli RIF got the certification as official test bed to host further competitions in the Service field.

The ERL Service local tournament saw three teams competing with each other:

  • b-it-bots@Home della Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (Germany),
  • homer@UniKoblenz, University of Koblenz (Germany);
  • Spqrel Sapienza Universita' di Roma and Lincoln University (UK).
