ERL Professional Major Tournament, Magdeburg 2017
Show details
The European Robotics League Industrial Robots competition is going to hold its second Major Tournament during the RoboCup GermanOpen in Magdeburg from the 3-7 May 2017. Teams have already been selected through the RoboCup qualification process and are therefore free to take part in the ERL-IR competition. Participating teams will have the chance to be scored in parallel to the RoboCup tests, but taking into account the ERL defined metrics. To facilitate automatic benchmarking of a participating robot, teams have the possibility to try out a newly-defined device capable of supporting this. This external and self-sustaining computer can be connected to the robot via Ethernet to collect datasets during a benchmark run and perform an automatic scoring.

ERL Consumer Local Tournament, Bristol 2017
Show details
We are pleased to announce the first local tournament on the ERL Service Robots challenge to be held at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) in Bristol, UK. The BRL is a collaborative partnership between the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol. The tournament will be hosted in the BRL’s Personalised Assisted Living Studio which was recently certified for use as an ERL Service Robots testbed.

A maximum of 3 teams will be permitted to enter this tournament.

The ERL is composed of multiple "Local tournaments", held in different research labs across Europe, with certified test beds, and a few competitions as part of "Major tournaments" such as RoboCup. Teams participate in a minimum of two tournaments (Local and/or Major) per year and get scores based on their performances. Scores of the best two participations in tournaments for each team are added and teams are ranked based on their cumulative score. Prizes for the top teams are awarded during the next year’s European Robotics Forum (ERF).

ERL Emergency Major Tournament, Piombino 2017
Show details
ERL Emergency Robots is a civilian, outdoor robotics competition, with a focus on realistic, multi-domain emergency response scenarios. Inspired by the 2011 Fukushima accident, the ERL Emergency Grand Challenge can only be overcome when land, underwater and flying robots successfully cooperate.

The competition itself sees International teams of various disciplines and organisations surveying the scene, collecting data, searching for missing workers and identifying critical hazards, all in a race against the clock. After three successful years under the name of ‘euRathlon’ (old.eurathlon.eu), the latest iteration of the competition takes a step forwards as part of the European Robotics League (ERL), a novel model for competitions funded by the European Commission.

Local organisers: Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), University of the West of England, Bristol, Centre for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC), Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics FKIE and University of Oulu

Target audience
International teams (research, industry and/or end-users).

ERL Emergency 2017 competition is open to the public and anyone interested can attend as spectator. Spectators do not need to register and the entrance is free.

We are pleased to announce the second Local Tournament 2017 of the ERL Industrial Robots challenge. The competition will be hosted by Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy; it will take place at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Lab, in Building 7 ("Carlo Erba") of the Leonardo Campus, main headquarters of Politecnico di Milano since 1927.
This event will also be part of the European Robotics Week 2017: for this reason, participating teams are required to prepare a demo, to be shown to the public on November 25, 2017. Demos will act as the closing event of the ERL-IR Local Tournament. Team demos are not required to be related to ERL-IR, but they have to take place in the ERL-IR testbed. (Reasonably successful) execution of ERL-IR benchmarks is considered an acceptable demo.
