Developing Socially Acceptable Robots - International Workshop, Aalborg University, Denmark
Show details
In the future, robots are envisioned to work side by side with humans in dynamic environments both in production contexts but also more and more in societal context like health care, education, or commerce. This will require robots to become socially accepted, to become able to analyze human intentions in meaningful ways, and to become proactive. South Korea is one of the Asian hotspots focusing on robots in and for society. The workshop intends to establish new collaborations with South Korean researchers and industry around this challenge and will be focusing on topics like design, AI, human robot collaboration and interaction,

Opening event: Human Robot Interaction Lab at Aalborg University, Denmark, co-organized by BrainsBusiness
Show details
Human robot interaction is one of the key competences when robots are moving out of the structured environment on the factory floor and into more collaborative or social situations.

The Technical Faculty of IT and Design at AAU is especially well equipped for the challenges in this field with dedicated researchers working on the future methods and tools for interacting and collaborating with proactive autonomous robots. To coordinate and harvest the synergies across departments, the new HRI lab is established to provide a single entry point for everybody interested in future human robot interaction.

Join us for the opening event and get a look behind the scenes at the brand new Human Robot Interaction Lab at AAU's Technical Faculty of IT and Design.

Rise of the Robots - Public lecture at Aalborg University
Show details
A new form of robots is emerging that allow robots to move from the factory and into our lives.

Robotics technology is now reaching levels where more complex tasks are within reach. Robots will soon be endowed with human-like communication skills, perception, reasoning and motor control. This will facilitate effective human-robot interaction and autonomous task execution. We have been witnessing this progress already in the case of self-driving cars, autonomous aircraft and service robots, to name a few examples.

At Aalborg University, we have a network of researchers that work across disciplines to help attack the gap. In this talk, we will present some of the challenges being addressed by researchers collaborating across the university.

The public lecture is presented by Professor Thomas Bak. He the head of the Department of Electronic Systems and the coordinator of the robotics network at Aalborg University.
