THE PRESIDENT OF THE SCHOOL OF ROBOTICS, AT THE SDA BOCCONI DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION WORKSHOP HELD BY GIANLUCA SALVIOTTI, TALKS ABOUT THE SOCIAL IMPACT OF NAO AND COLLEAGUES

In the industrious silence of the corridors of SDA Bocconi School of Management, Psy's hit Gangnam Style suddenly resounds. The music comes from the desk in lecture room 14, where the 58-centimetre Nao, a humanoid robot produced by SoftBank Robotics, is dancing (very well, by the way). A very funny scene, but far from a joke. That robotic exhibition was the preamble to a very serious (in terms of the topics covered) lesson in the Digital transformation course held by Gianluca Salviotti as part of the Microsoft Dynamics Academy, the academy that SDA Bocconi creates together with the Redmond-based company. On that day, the course featured Emanuele Micheli, president of the School of Robotics in Genoa, as a witness to the most advanced experiences of interaction between man and machine.

Once the music from Nao's demo mode had finished, it became terribly serious. At stake is 'how technologies are changing our lives in every way,' Micheli explains. "It's true that robotics people are primarily interested in the fact that robots like Nao or Pepper create engagement, but then you have to find their usefulness, otherwise they remain just expensive gadgets. This is why Emanuele, his School and anyone else who shares this vision, immediately try to go beyond the wow effect produced by the robot or the videos of the table tennis champion who risks defeat by a Kuka robotic arm, to touch on the implications that all this entails.

Bee Bot Workshop 2021
Show details
With the help of Bee Bots, children will learn basic programming and algorithms, develop their logical thinking, fine motor skills, communication skills, enrich their vocabulary, develop spatial orientation, attention, memory and creativity.

The themed backgrounds on which the Bee Bots move are divided into several square fields. Individual fields are marked with different pictorial representations (geometric shapes, letters, numbers, continents, nature, etc.). Children are given the task of programming a Bee Bot to get from point A to point B and the robot is controlled using the buttons located on the back of the bee. After the child programs the Bee Bot, the robot independently moves from one location to another. Children interact with the Bee Bot through keys (manual programming, eg. up, down, left, right, pause, go) and visually master the paths and mazes along which the programmed robots move. From the original simple solutions (eg. "Bring the bee from the flower to the hive") to more complex tasks (eg. "The bee should come out of the hive, then take it to the meadow, pick up the pollen and finally take it through the beekeeper to the jar of honey “). After a certain time of use, children begin to understand the algorithms around them and are increasingly advanced in their learning and creation. This way of learning and teaching is very interesting because it takes place through play and children learn situationally, spontaneously and naturally. Since programming is teamwork, through this game children learn communication skills, teamwork efficiency and how to celebrate successfully solved tasks with common rules, agreements and solutions.

U prvom dijelu radionice učenici su upoznati s osnovama rada u grafičkom programskom jeziku Scratch (dodavanje likova, pozadina, korištenje pojedinih blokova u kreiranju programa, jednostavno korištenje petlje).

Arduino workshop
Show details
Simply put, Arduino is a micro-controller. This small computer is used as the brain of the robot. It can be programmed to control the way buttons, motors, switches, lights, and other electronic parts work together. Arduino is hands-on, which is one of the many reasons it’s appealing to kids. It can be plugged into your computer. You can write a program on the computer and send it to the Arduino.

When kids start to use Arduino, they quickly learn that robotics is all around us. While it’s interesting to learn about electronics and how they work, it’s even better when you get to try it for yourself. When kids use Arduino at MakerKids, they get to build their own projects. They get to see what works and what doesn’t work and how to problem-solve in the process.

ROBOTICS, Festival di Arte e robotica e altre tecnologie
Show details
